Aliens: Fireteam Elite Preview

The gaming world needs more co-op games, now more than ever. With everything over the past few years focusing so heavily on competitive play, many developers are looking to break away from the new normal. Like a ray of sunshine, in comes one of the most exciting games of the year. Aliens: Fireteam Elite.

The game is a three player action third person shooter, which is a polar opposite to horror title Alien Isolation. Players are given five classes to choose from: Doc, Gunner, Demolisher, Recon, and Technician with each bringing their own unique skills to fight the Alien hordes. Each class will have some light progression allowing players to level up their characters to better them selves for future fights.

At launch, there will be four story campaigns, each with three chapters each. It’s structured very similarly to the old Left 4 Dead games. I know you hear that a lot, but I’m talking about the separate campaigns with long chapters dividing each one. This system is perfect for games like this. It allows for shorter play sessions if you’re strapped on time, but stills gives you and your friends the complete package of you want to play through a whole campaign.

There is planned post launch DLC coming to the game later on down the road, and NO MICROTRANSACTIONS! It has been a plague on gaming for so long now, it’s honestly refreshing when developers stay away from it. We’ve seen many games say they won’t add microtransactions, but end up doing so anyway, so hopefully this time will be different.

We here at 101 Militia Gaming are very excited for this title. With most of our members taking a long break from competitive gaming, it’s so nice to have games like this come when we need them most. I mean, I love Call of Duty Zombies, but we can’t play it ALL the time. Having more co-op options is a good thing, and I hope to see the industry make a turn to give us more in the future.

We look forward to hearing about your experiences in Aliens: Fireteam Elite!

For all things geek culture keep it right here with 101 Militia Gaming!
