Good day to all my readers, I hope everyone’s year has kicked off to a great start! I know 2021 is looking good for the 101Militia crew. Usually I have good news to report in my weekly “Let’s Talks,” but today is going to be a bit different. Today I’m just gonna report on game that Jericoh and I waited patiently for, waited days upon days to play. At the end of all that waiting we were subjected to probably one of the most heartbreaking scenarios. One where online multiplayer let us down. So buckle in and Let’s Talk: Divinity Original Sin II
Divinity Original Sin II is a role-playing game developed and published by Larian Studios. The sequel to 2014’s Divinity Original Sin, it was released for Microsoft Windows in September 2017, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in August 2018, for macOS in January 2019, and for Nintendo Switch in September 2019. The game was a critical and commercial success, with it selling over a million copies in two months and being cited as one of the best role-playing games of all time, with praise given to its combat complexity and interactivity.
As with Divinity: Original Sin players can play solo or with up to three others in their party. Several pre-made characters with backstories are available to the player. Players are also able to create a custom character and choose their stats, race, gender, and origin story at the start of the game. Unlike the original game, players are also given the possibility to create an undead character of one of the available races. With Lizard folk, elves that can eat flesh and a whole host of other Player Character goodies.
I can’t tell you guys how excited Jericoh and I were to get started on this masterpiece of an RPG. Dreams of an Undead Lizard Metamorph and a Lizard Enchanter danced through our heads but alas, it was not meant to be. I can report that the single player campaign seems to be a stellar work of art. If multiplayer was the reason you picked up this title then I’m sad to say, it doesn’t work. No matter what we tried, and trust me, there were dozens of attempts. Eventually Jericoh just had to email Larian and we turned to google to try and find a solution. We weren’t the only people with this problem either. Apparently the multiplayer that everyone was tease with just simply doesn’t work.
If it worked on any other system besides PS4 someone should definitely let us know. So beyond the basics of the game, this is all I can report. We gave up on even trying to single player campaign behave that’s not the reason we got the game! Beyond the multiplayer problems though, I’d recommend this RPG to any other role playing fanatics. Play it, tell me I’m right in saying it’s one of the best RPGs you’ll lay your hands on. Just don’t try to play multiplayer and you’ll be a happy camper. So please, enjoy the game and then let your friends over at the 101 know how you liked it!
