Ooblets. ooblets. Ooooooblets.
Ooblets is an indie, single player game being released July 15th for early access on Xbox One and the Epic Games Store. It’s also my new favorite word.
A list of things the game includes:
Rolling up with your own personal cult of Ooblets
Here’s a link to the early access trailer if you’d like to check it out for yourself.
This game has been in production since 2016, so everyone who’s been there since the beginning is pretty excited for this release. Patrons of the game have had access to a demo of the character creation system for a few days now and have really been going ham on twitter posting gifs of their character and ooblet teams.
Ooblets’ developer, Glumberland, is a studio comprised of exactly two people, so I can’t even imagine the amount of time and effort that went into making this game. The love and heart that went into it is obvious, and that’s what really excites me about it. The complete storyline won’t be finished until 1.0 drops, but they estimate that there are 6-40 hours of gameplay in the early access version, depending on your play style (completionist that I am, I intend to get every second I can.)
If you just can’t get enough, their merch store right now has pins, posters, stickers, and t-shirts of the colorful little creatures. Or you could just say ooblets over and over to yourself like some sort of summoning chant. If you say it right, it sounds like you dropped something into water, a very satisfying bloop. I’ve been saying the name under my breath all day, and I’m sure my coworkers think I’m possessed by something. I am that hype for these tiny little creatures.
