Now unless you’ve unfortunately been living under a rock for the last, oh I don’t know, 10 years or so then we’ve all played at least one round of Nazi Zombies from Call of Duty. I myself started with the Zombies from Call of Duty: World at War when I was younger an di was instantly hooked!
A 1-4 player zombie adventure! After that it was me and buddies laying waste to the hordes of the damned wave after wave after wave. But somewhere along the way, sometime after I lost touch with Call of Duty franchise and sadly pulled away from the Nazi Zombies that I so thoroughly enjoyed. After several years of being away from them, the last of which I played was a snippet of zombies from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, but I won’t get into that 1980’s mess right now; I finally was talked back into it by a close friend of mine.
I picked up a copy of Call of Duty: WW2 with all the map packs while it was on sale. Now, after taking on the Nazi Zombies I had to sit and reflect on what zombies used to be versus what it was now. I never really gave much thought to what Sledgehammer was going to do with Nazi Zombies after the split with Treyarch, but I’m happy I took a chance to find out. I can wholeheartedly say that Call of Duty: WW2 has some of the best Nazi Zombies I’ve had the joy of playing. But was it truly the best? In my opinion, yes, it has some of the best horror elements I’ve seen in a Nazi Zombies to date, along with some of the best upgrades and skills!
Now if we wanted to talk true horror, we would be discussing Call of Duty: World at War, it was horrifying in the aspect of the Browning and the Raygun were your best options; but I digress, we aren’t getting into ghosts of the past. So, armed with a few questions I had a sit down with 101MilitiaGaming’s Editor in Chief Jericoh101 or as I call him, my buddy John. So what follows in an interview that I hope everyone enjoys!
Q: In your opinion what are the current best/worst Zombies map?
A: WW2 has some of the best while the worst, in my opinion were the maps from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Q: What’s your personal favorite/least favorite map?
A: My favorite map is by far Kino der Toten. Its easily the map I’ve dumped the most hours on. My least favorite would be Shangri-la, any jungle map sets me up for failure.
Q: What have been some problems with Nazi Zombies in the past?
A: The lack of a cohesive story throughout the Richtofen saga was a problem for myself, I would enjoy a more cohesive story.
Q: If there was something you could change about Nazi Zombies, what would it be?
A: I would like to add some form of defense building be it; small walls, trenches or barbed wire. I would also like to dd a new wave of trap building besides all the normal traps that are available.
Q: What is your favorite and least favorite weapon?
A: The old fashioned Raygun was my absolute favorite, it was what carried you through the early iterations of zombies. My least favorite, ANY BOLT ACTION EVER
Q: What do you hope to see in future Nazi Zombies?
A: I would like them to keep adding emphasis to horror, a few more realistic boss battles and just a bit better cinematography.
