Happy March 4th, everyone! You’re probably wondering, what’s so special about this day? Well, today happens to be Game Master’s Appreciation Day!
For those who are not into the RPG world, a Game Master is someone who wears many hats during a role playing game session. They are in charge of players following the rules, designing the story, creating the atmosphere, and really just making sure that everyone is having fun. This is not a job for the weak of heart. Game Masters pour their time, energy, and resources into creating a perfect experience for their players.
What can you do to show your GM that you appreciate them? Baking them a cake and a facebook shoutout (shoutout to my husband for being the best GM around) are nice gestures, however, they might appreciate the following a bit more.
– If you say you’re going to show up and play, then show up and play. Not showing up is rude, people.
-Actually take care of your character sheet
-Stay off your cell phone during game time
-Maybe try running a game for them for a change
Being a GM is a mostly thankless job, but they do it because they love yo create fun and memorable experiences for their players. If you have a good one, make sure you let them know today. Do you have any ways you plan on showing appreciation to your GM today? Let us know in the comments.
